For “Woman” photo-project I am exhibiting extracts of my works “Julia” and “Family and Friends”. The pictures present women living in Germany; they are relatives or friends of mine. I take pictures of people when I got to know them good enough to become familiar with traits of their characters, with their personalities. It is important to me to understand people’s rhythm of living and their personal vision of life. If you look at these photographs you might not find a suitable image fitting German women in general. Due to my relation to them I tried to present these women with a subjective approach.
Evelyn owns a tiny store where she sells clothes, hand-made fashion, and repairs all types of clothing. After long considerations she finally decided to leave her former office job for her dream work. Once she studied technologies of nutrition, she still loves cooking the traditional way, sticks to her beliefs and seems to never give up certain stubbornness.
Tetjana was born in Ukraine near Odessa and got married to a German man. She moved to Berlin where she gave birth to 3 children. Her husband decreed German to be the family language. None of the children speaks Russian or Ukrainian. After buying a property Tetjana got divorced and endured a hard time being operated for cancer.
Her granddaughter is four years old, she calls her granny Thea.
Thea lives with a cat and a couple of chicken at an old barnyard in the country. Because the efforts of keeping the estate going are troubling her much she thinks of selling it and moving to a small apartment. She feels frail and stays alone most of the time. Despite that she gladly prepares an excellent tea for her rare guests.
Gisela is sporty, enthusiastic and always interested the other people's narrations. She enjoys mountains and hiking in nature. Since her husband passed away she manages the work in the garden on her own, cuts the hedge and trees, harvests, takes care of the flower beds and prongs the soil.
Vita is from Kazakhstan. Her Russian-German parents moved to Bremen when she was little. She studies photography and works in an art gallery. Her character is decent, she tends to be thoughtful, has a great sense of humour and is always able to lend an ear.
Rita and her husband came from Ukraine with the child to live in Germany. They never got rid of their accents, and Rita can barely prospect her future career. She is passionate and warm-hearted, always concerned for the well-being of others and sees herself most of all as mother of the four years old Nikita, who is parented bilingually.
Julia was born near Chemnitz, studied medicine, has a two years old daughter and works as a doctor. Her rational profession conflicts with her temper, her musical talents and her artistic ambitions. She is unconventional, dreamy and very determined.
Для проекту «Жінка» виставляю свої окремі роботи з циклів «Джулія» і «Сім’я та друзі». На фото зображені мої родички та подруги, які живуть у Німеччині. Я фотографую лише добре знайомих мені людей, знаючи їхні риси характеру та індивідуальні особливості. Для мене важливо зрозуміти їхній життєвий ритм та світогляд. Що стосується цих знімків, то серед них можна і не знайти пануючий образ німкені. Враховуючи мій зв’язок з цими жінками, я намагався розглядати їх суб’єктивно.
Евелін є власницею невеличкої крамниці, де вона продає одяг, дизайнерські розробки та займається ремонтом речей. Після тривалих роздумів вона, зрештою, вирішила залишити офісну роботу задля мрії. Свого часу Евелін вивчала технологію харчування і досі любить готувати традиційні страви, не відходить від своїх принципів, навіть якщо інколи це схоже на впертість.
Тетяна народилася в Україні, недалеко від Одеси, і вийшла заміж за німця. Вона переїхала до Берліна, де народила трьох дітей. Ніхто з них не знає ні російської, ні української, оскільки її чоловік вирішив, що у сім’ї будуть розмовляти німецькою. Після покупки нерухомості Тетяна розлучилася і пережила складний період, захворівши на рак і перенісши операцію.
Її онуці чотири роки, і вона називає себе Tеа. Живе разом з котом та парою курок у старому будинку за містом. Теа планує продати дім та переїхати до невеликої квартири. Відчуває себе слабкою і більшість часу проводить наодинці. Та своїх нечастих гостей вона із задоволенням пригощає прекрасним чаєм.
Гізела – спортивна жінка, повна ентузіазму та завжди цікавиться історіями інших людей. Їй подобаються гори та піші прогулянки на природі. Після смерті чоловіка вона доглядає cад, підстригає огорожу та дерева, збирає врожай та розпушує землю.
Віта – з Казахстану. Коли вона була ще дитиною, її російсько-німецька сім’я приїхала до Бремена. Нині вивчає фотосправу та працює в арт-галереї. Вона – порядна людина з прекрасним почуттям гумору. Має схильність замислюватися і завжди готова вислухати іншу людину.
Рита та її чоловік разом з дитиною приїхали до Німеччини з України. Вони так і не позбулися акценту, а Рита ледве може уявити свою майбутню кар’єру. Вона – сповнена ентузіазму добра людина, яка завжди переймається самопочуттям інших. Проте головне її призначення – бути матір’ю чотирирічного Микити, якого виховують у двомовному середовищі.
Юлія народилася біля Хемнітцу, вивчала медицину, має дворічну доньку і працює лікарем. Прагматична професія конфліктує з її темпераментом, музичними талантами та художніми амбіціями. Вона – неординарна, мрійлива та дуже цілеспрямована.
