I am working using the wet-plate collision process, which gives this “old” effect to the film. This method was widely used in 1850-1870. The pictures you see here were taken using a reproduction camera and Voigtlander & Sohn lens manufactured in 1856. The concept was actually simple. I put an ad on Craigslist Los Angeles saying that I am looking for 3 generations of females for the project. I got two responses, both families came to my studio to be photographed and then I photo-shopped the pictures together into a triptych. So this submission represents 3 generations of American Women. As they say, we are the nation made of people of many nations; this is particularly noticeable in the big cities like Los Angeles, where to hear several different languages spoken in the cafe is a common thing. In fact, the guy who served me coffee at my local coffee shop (where I’ve sent the images from) speaks English, Farsi and Norwegian. I think that pictures submitted can give a full idea of this.
